How Long Does RPL Take?

A typical RPL timeline of around four months, with many candidates completing within a 3–9 month window, is consistent with a process that is both rigorous and realistic. RPL is evidence-based: the work is in gathering, selecting, and organising authentic workplace evidence, and responding to targeted knowledge requirements.
It’s not usually “hours every day” it’s more commonly a few hours here and there spread across several months.
This is useful for employers because it sets expectations and supports planning: RPL can be integrated into normal work rhythms without major disruption, especially when workplace documents already exist.
For employees, it highlights flexibility: the process is self-directed, so the timeline largely reflects the candidate’s pace, access to evidence, and competing priorities — not artificial training schedules.
